Most of you will know of the Watchmen film that was released a few weeks ago. Rorschach; one of the main (and arguably best) characters in the story has a mask with ink blots that change shapes and react to his mood.
After the release of the film the internet exploded with After Effects tutorials claiming to show how to achieve a similar effect. Being a Watchmen fan; I checked out a bunch of them.
The problem with them was that they all used the CC Mercury plugin. Whilst this creates a effect, you’ll find you have almost no control over it, as the CC mercury plugin is rather random, plus the fact that it looks nothing like the Rorschach mask should.

So here at FintanMedia.co.uk; we are about to push the boundaries of this tutorial. We’re going to show you how create a Rorschach Ink Blot that is fully controllable, customizable and most importantly, looks and behaves as it should.

So, here we go!
